Brother – a company that has been producing quality printer cartridges for decades

Brother is probably a company that needs no special introduction to any of you. The company has been operating on the European market for more than 60 years, and we can see the quality of its equipment every day at home or at work. Regardless of whether it is office equipment or products intended for industrial sectors.

A brief look into the company's history

Brother began writing its remarkable history as early as 1908. At that time, of course, it was still called YASUI SEWING MACHINE CO and was engaged in repairing sewing machines or manufacturing spare parts. After the death of the company founder, Kanekichi Yasui, leadership of the company was taken over by his son, and the company soon expanded its business to include the production of sewing machines as well as straw hats. Over time, the company underwent reorganization and, with the expansion of its products abroad, simultaneously broadened its product range. Examples include washing machines, fans, knitting machines, or even Darling motorcycles with an 80 cc engine displacement.

There are several important milestones in Brother's history, and we will certainly mention some of them later as well, but we cannot overlook the year 1958, when the company established a trading company in Europe too. The company chose Ireland for its business operations in Europe; somewhat later, France, Germany, and the Netherlands were added. In 1962, the company was renamed and began using its current name, BROTHER INDUSTRIES LTD.

Brother has several world firsts to its name

Several companies attempted to improve inkjet printing technology at the same time in the past, and Brother competed with such renowned brands as HP, Epson, and Canon.

It is not for us to judge the competitive struggle of that time, but the truth is that the first high-speed dot matrix printer is forever associated with Brother, which built the device designed by CDCC and subsequently manufactured and sold it from 1971 onward.

Brother's achievements did not end there. Quite the opposite. After dot matrix printers, electric typewriters came to the fore, achieving worldwide success and becoming a significant impetus for the company's development. However, we must mention the year 1987 associated with the Brother laser printer and then above all the year 1995, which is marked by the world’s first multifunction laser device. Brother repeated this first two years later, in 1997, when it also introduced the first inkjet multifunction printer to the market.

The year 2002 was certainly also interesting for the company, when sales of powerful standalone Brother mobile printers began, as well as the year 2007 with the groundbreaking innovation of an RFID label printer.

Brother today

Brother currently continues to manufacture industrial sewing machines as well as other large machine tools, and the production of scanners and the aforementioned label printers also remains a priority.

However, this is of course far from everything.
